  1. Upon first entering the blog, I immediately notice that there was a huge bald eagle at the top of the page with its wings spread apart. Being a political blog this made perfect sense because, in America, the bald eagle is a symbol for the freedom and equality that our country has always strove to achieve. After taking that image in, I was faced with another, much more gruesome picture in one of the blog entries. It was of a group of nine people belonging to a drug cartel that were tortured and hung off of a bridge by a rival cartel. The fact that things like this are happening so close to the US border is scary to think about. I also noticed that there is a ton of blogs just bashing our president Barack Obama. Being a blog site for republicans this didn't really surprise me. However, I think that in order to get there point across it would be better to voice their opinions more and elaborate upon them than focusing a lot of their attention on Obama.

  2. When I first clicked on the link, I noticed the big bald eagle at the top of the page. As we all know, the eagle is America's most prominent emblem as it stands for America's courage, independence, strength, etc.
The next thing I noticed was an appalling picture of nine people hanging of a bridge. Like Robbie posted above, it is pretty scary that something like this is happening so close to the U.S. border.
I also noticed that on the side of the blog, the creators of the blog have political updates for its viewers to read. Scrolling down a bit further, I saw a lot of hate comments directed at Present Obama. I understand that this is a Republican site, but I feel that you can express your political beliefs in a well-mannered and civilized way instead of bashing someone. By expressing these feelings in a negative way, it makes the site look really unprofessional and amateurish.
I also don't like the layout of the site; in my opinion, it's not neat and concise and therefore makes it harder for the reader to navigate the site. Lastly, I found some spelling errors just above the video called "Islam, the Religion of Peace." The creators spelled the word "Muslims" as "Moslems" and this just therefore proves this site is unprofessional and immature.

  3. Obviously the first thing that catches the viewers eye is the large bald eagle at the top of the page. The national bird is a symbol of freedom and equality, something republicans try and maintain for citizens. That is, keep government minimal. The background is also interesting. It is made up of stars and stripes, referring to everything the American flag stands for. The articles are also very interesting. They are extremely biased and arguably "unprofessional" with the way they talk about our president. However being a conservative I thoroughly enjoy it. This blog is obviously not for liberals, so the fact that they are being "unprofessional" is only for entertainment purposes. It makes it that much more appealing. If it makes you laugh, aren't you going to visit the site again?

  4. Before entering the website, the title of the blog gives it all away. Obviously this is a blog dedicated to supporting the Republican Party and bashing Obama in as many ways possible. There are not any tabs at the front of the page and there is only an about this Blog section and then it goes right into news. It would have been nice to know the creators of the blog, to see if this blog has any credible information. I don’t know if I would trust anything coming from this blog because there is no “who we are” section of the blog. This blog on the other hand has many stunning and graphic photos that definitely send its message across. The video about Islamic teachings and the minds of terrorists is a very stunning video that is sure to spring up emotions from both sides of the argument. The layout of the blog is poorly designed and it would have been nice to have had some tabs at the top of the page to navigate the blog easily.

  5. The first thing I notice when entering the blog is the bald eagle. Again, this is similar to another website which also incorporated patriotism into their blog theme. Next thing that sticks out to me is the color scheme. Some sites have used a plain white but instead, this site uses a tan background with stars going up and down the background of the site. At the beginning of the blog, there is a paragraph which gives some background information on the blog and what it is about. It can also be noted that the blog has been around for four years now. This means that the blog probably has built up a strong base of readers and contributors. The site contains information and articles which have to do political news that pertains to the current times. As one can infer from the title, they take a right wing conservative stance so most of their articles are against Obama and the Democratic Party as a whole. The blog also contains articles on news that is happening in the world but it relates this news back to how it affects the United States as a whole. Towards the bottom of the page, the blog has numerous links to other blogs and sites that it shares ideals with.

  6. The first I noticed is that rabidrepublicanblog.com has a very fancy background which the main color is grey with the decoration of pentagrams. The logo of this website is also very intriguing. It is an eagle flapping its wings and the name of the website is above the eagle. The bald eagle may represent the attitude of chasing freedom and equality. Rabidrepublicanblog.com mainly talks about the political issues. Most of the news and information accompany with videos or images like what other blogs do. There are some advertisements in the website. The good thing is that they are not very distractive.

  7. This website caught my attention as soon as I opened it, especially the eagle on the top. The eagle instantly gave me the thought of a political website, even without seeing the website name. Whats most interesting is the format, on one it has the videos and stories, and the other side it gives information the website itself. The more I read into the article the more I got a republican vibe, especially with negative democratic comments. The thing that drew automatic attention was the story about the golf cartel. Whatever what was the motive, most likely drugs, there were five men and four women hung off on an bridge. Overall I like how the website is presented and how the information is organized.

  8. The first thing that I thought of this blog was that it reminded me of a site that would sell something for guys or that of a tattoo places website. I also noticed first how there are no links on the top to click on and see what the blog is all about and who writes the articles. This gets me thinking about who could really be running the site; especially of we are unable to see their accreditations. While you can’t click on the authors of each blog entry, you are able to link to other sites or organizations similar to the cause of the blog itself. This made me think if the authors of the blog were really into the subject or if they were just putting in simple terms/reporting the big news of their belief system and leaving it up to bigger and more advanced sites to do the bulk of the work on finding things to report on. The remembering link at the bottom of the blog really confused me because I don’t understand how 50’s rock and roll or old western heroes have to do with the politics this blog is appearing to focus on. Overall the credibility of this site does not appear to be very strong in my eyes.

    1. I agree with you. Its the same person, ironmike, thats posting the articles, which shows lack of diversity, and theirs no way of knowing anything about his credentials. Bring the points you made above to class for the discussion.

  9. The first thing that caught my attention upon entering this site was the name of the blog. It gives away the purpose of the blog very clearly. The title alone however, will determine whether or not a person views the site. Not many democrats or "liberals" will view a web site entitled rabid republican. The next thing I noticed was the depiction of the bald eagle. A symbol of freedom and american patriotism, the bald eagle helps to create a patriotic connection with the audience drawing them into the articles. The blog page has many different articles and is easily navigated. It has political updates along the left side and main articles going down the center of the page. Each main article is accompanied by a media image or video just as we have seen in most of the blog projects thus far. Compared to the other blogs this site seems very free of other distracting advertisements. Also, it does not have any obvious links to learn more about the site or contact them or follow them on some sort of social media like most of the others had. Though the colors of the page seem boring compared to the colors used in many of the other sites, it does appear very professional and does a good job of addressing republican ideals.

  10. As soon as I opened the link, the big logo threatened me. The face of the eagle is almost invisible except for the opening mouth. It seems like the eagle is roaring while it is about to fly. This design implies some kind of anger and scorn. However, the body of the eagle seems somewhat twisted, which means that it is not as free as it seems to. There might be some strength behind. The situation of the eagle is actually a reflection of the situation of republican. The eagle's anger is a display of republican's anger. Additionally, the things under the eagle look glorious, but it seems to turn into fabrics as the branches stretch out. Maybe, the nest like thing under the eagle is a reflection of the governing democratic. The star shows their glorified place in current America, but the broken ribbons suggest that the democratic is messing things up. Seeing the eagle and the "nest" as a whole, the eagle is restricted by the "nest", which means the "nest" ties up the dream and freedom of the eagle. However, the eagle is struggling to get rid of the "nest" and actually the "nest" is going to break down. Through this logo, the republicans show their anger to the democrats and confidence and hope for their administration.

  11. Popping out, I see a large, cunning bald eagle that quickly leads me to believe this blog is american politics. The eagle being our nations bird is very sacred. Getting into the blog i noticed some very diverse topics being posted about over seas as well as some about issues on our own soil. However most posts are by the same guy which makes me believe this blog is not very popular...or he runs a tight blog for only viewers to see. However the dull color of the layout is the same pale yellow the entire time. It really shows no favorites between the republican or democratic sides but rather a overall view of politics.

  12. The first thing I noticed about the blog was the eagle in the center of the banner across the top. The second thing I noticed was the olive green background with stars and stripes. The eagle is the national animal, so it was probably used in the republican’s blog because they feel that they represent what America should truly be like. I’m not sure of the significance of the olive green background, but the stars and stripes represent the American flag. When scrolling down, one of the first headlines I noticed reads, “Listen to a REAL republican!” I also noticed the “About this blog” section, and it says that the blog exists to connect mainstream and conservative Republican thinking. When I read deeper into the content, I noticed the language and how self-centered and unwavering in their opinions the creators of the blog seem to be. A phrase that really struck me was, “What happens when the Russians size up our American pResident as a narcissist pussy?” They are not being sensitive to all readers or people they are trying to reach, as this can be offensive to women.

  13. At first one may take a quick glance at this site and notice the tan background and the abnormally large bald eagle. The large bald eagle is meant to symbolize nationalism. Conservative republican thinking is the main theme of this site. American politics, freedom, and liberty are some of the obvious aspects of this site. Like some people previously mentioned, democrats are not likely to read a blogging site titled Rabid Republican Blog. The site itself is hard to follow and the videos are varied. Many things grabbed my attention, for example the comment on the the OSU Obama campaign says some interesting comments such as the fact that it is empty is because "maybe his new Mexican voters were celebrating Cinco de Mayo? ". Such a comment is very racist and narrowed minded. The statement to assume that a.) the only people that celebrate cinch de mayo are mexican and b.) that Obama is reliant solely on minority vote belittles his campaign and excludes all other types of voters that may vote for him. And the Gulf Cartel picture was very graphic, as well. In addition they spelled Muslim wrong in the "Islam, the Religion of Peace". The links on the left side of the screen are also very confusing , I clicked on Western Heroes and I was confused by the purpose of this video.

  14. Even when my pretty republican family looked at this blog (because i forwarded them the link) they were totally shocked. But, clearly the purpose for this blog is to get people seriously worked up and that is what it does. It tries to pull off the very AMERICAN hard core nationalist thing with the flags and red white and blue colors. Also the bald eagle sort of gives of the "Join us or die" idea, at least to me that is how it comes off.
Some of the articles are actually very factual but some of them are just pure opinion and very extreme republican opinion at that.

  15. The clear first thing on the page is the eagle and banner, which to me was a gaudy way to remind the reader what the site was trying to promote (the American way of the republican, freedom, America in general, etc) and it really worked against me for the remainder of the time i was on the blog. The site has a setup that is not easy to navigate, and it really put me off that there was no 'about us' or even a real mention to the people that ran the site. As i scrolled down, it bashes a lot of what Obama does, but that seems to be the point of the blog. I saw one or two articles that drew my attention, but they were links to the article or video posted by someone else. Not a lot of original work here, just information given a horribly republican slant against anything democrat.
