Hey class!
Please visit http://www.theenvironmentalblog.org and then leave your comments here. This blog is about the environment, primarily about how it is being hurt and what we can do to help. You can talk about the layout of the site, specific articles, or pretty much anything else you find interesting. Don't forget to check after you comment, we may ask you to share if we like your ideas! See you all on Tuesday.
This blog gives me a lovely first sight. The color of the background is light blue. Instead of putting pressures on the viewers urgently or showing its specific stand, the blog allows people to take a breath and view the content with a bright and a relaxed mood by using simple and light colors. The logo is simple, too, which is just set as a part of the title. The leaf in the lower position is black. Compared to the higher leaf, it is much smaller. The dark color suggests the reality of existing pollution, while the leaf in light green is showing healthy growth and hope. The two leaves are connected by part of a green sphere, which stands for the whole environment and the earth. I think the designer wants to show that although pollution is serious and has deep roots under the earth, but it is dying out. New life will triumph the polluted and bring hope back to the world. I also go through some of the articles. The style of the words and expressions used in this blog is comparably scientific and logic. Instead of putting fears on the viewers as most other environmental blogs did, the blog focuses more on the technology and researches going on to help solve the problems., like the article related to the battery and the one talking about biodiversity. By showing the functions of natural resources, the blog let the viewers be aware of the importance of protecting the environment and by showing some technology, the viewers are encouraged to practice the protection or at least publicise the idea. On the right corner, there are also some tips to make environmental protection easier for people to approach. Going through the blog makes me feel like I am talking with a nice and caring teacher, really amazing experience.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you the idea about the logo and I like your comment.
DeleteAt first glance, the blog has a very welcoming sight to it. The vibrant colors of light blue and green along with the bright pictures with every topic. The bright colors are used to express how the environment should be seen as bright and beautiful. Not polluted with smog and other environmental issues. The blog really pushes for a huge population to see the topics by putting links to twitter and Facebook all over the site. I also noticed a translator in the top right to change the language of the text to something other than english. The focus of the blog is on one daily topic and then the recent ones below. The site is organized nicely to allow easy access to all the previous and current topics. It is very inviting and just makes the viewers want to check in every day for new knowledge.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing out the translator, great catch.
DeleteAt first glance for me I actually really enjoy this blog. Green and Blue are my favorite colors and they're very soothing to look at. It seems like a very friendly and harmless blog, especially compared to the crazy rabid republican blog of last weeks group. For me personally, the use of Facebook and Twitter on the beginning of the website decreases its ethos becuase I think the articles and what they are talking about should be the most important thing on a blog site. If whatever they are talking about it that important and they do a good job of expressing their views they shouldn't need Facebook or Twitter to enhance it or make them money.
ReplyDeleteThe first picture the products are clearly in a different language which is interesting and also appealing because it could make this blog into a more international blog appealing to people in other countries and issues that they might also be dealing with affecting the environment.
I really like the pictures they're very artsy and creative and really add to the emotional appeal for me. They draw me into reading the articles they are connected with. The only thing I wish they had was a better summarization of each article because no one has time to read all of every article and they don't give you a very good idea of all the info as compared to other blogs we have looked at.
I like the color of the blog too:)
DeleteThis blog is extremely easy to navigate and is well laid out. The colors that jump out at me are green and blue, the colors of the Earth. I looked at the About us tab at the top of the page and I found that the authors do not include anything they were a part of, so for me there is little or no credibility. However, that does not sway me from the blog since it is so colorful and full of updated information. The most recent article is from May 21st, which is today so obviously this site gets updated very frequently. Not only does the site contain information about the environment, but also includes information on how you can be eco friendly doing simple tasks and also includes information on endangered animals.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is very well organized and modernized. The leaf is and the color choices are very natural and earthy. In the banner there are green tips and green technology gives the readers an opportunity to help the environment in their own way. It is very easy to navigate this site and the colors are clear are vivid. On the left side of the site there are "Eco Friendly Mothers Day Tips" and "Laundry Detergent Alternatives" which give the readers easy methods to save and conserve our Earth. They also have the option to like them on Facebook, follow them on twitter and Pinterest. This site is relatively new, as noticed by the organization and setup of the site. The article "Pebble Beach in Monterrey Reached Agreement for Ritzy Development" has amazingly beautiful pictures and their are explicit quotes stated by Chief Executive Officer. In addition, if you click the name of the author of the given articles on the site, they direct you to their profile and below are all their articles that they have published on TheEnviornmentalBlog.org website. One of my favorite aspects of this site is the Green Travel Category; it discusses different aspects of travel such as "Ecotourism in 2012" destinations as well as transportation and communication eco-friendly alternatives.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is very appealing to its viewers. The background is a refreshing light blue color, but text on a white background so it is easy and pleasant to read. The logo is very interesting, as is the title. There are two flowers, one is bright green and growing upwards, while the other is dark and wilting. Obviously this is symbolizing the two potential lives each plant has. One of a prosperous life in a clean and healthy environment. Or, a short life in a dirty and polluted atmosphere. Also interesting is how the title environmental is written in the two different colors. The latter part of the word, "mental," is green, differing from the blue of the first part of the word. This could suggest that helping the environment is easy to do, it is just a simple matter of making a conscience effort to make better environmental decisions. The website itself is very well laid out, easy to get involved. Also, they make it super easy to share the page via social media, a vital characteristic of an activist blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I like how you pointed out how the latter half of the word "environmental" is a different color. Please bring this up in class.
DeleteOne thing that really stood out was the title of the blog which is the same as the website address. The pictures for all the topics are all catchy and relevant to the overall cause, and the site provides tabs that zone in on certain topics. This unlike previous blogs makes it easier to navigate and find topics that pertain to personal interests. The blog has a mixture of ads that are about the environment and then those that weren't. The site does a good job with it s format. It gives a title, picture, date, and a brief description of what the topic is about. Under the about tab there is an option called guest post. This encourages diversity and new perspectives. Unfortunately it seems that only one person is submitting, and although he seems creditworthy, it cant be helped to assume that things are being looked at from only one direction. Overall the website is easy to follow and does a good job with its choice of photos.
ReplyDeleteThe main color of “The Environmental Blog” is white with the blue background. The logo of the blog is made up of two branches which one is black, the other is green. As we all know, the tree should be green. The black branch probably means that if people still ignore the environmental issues, all plants will be polluted and destroyed. The characters of “Environmental” are made up of blue and green. Blue may represent sky, and green may represent plants. In the main page, each news has a picture which clearly tells readers what the article mainly about. On the top of the page, there is a blue list which classifies topics into categories. It is easy for readers to find their own interesting topic.
ReplyDeletePeople can also share articles to his or her friends through hitting the facebook or twitter link. The advertisement is on the right side of the page, which is not very distractive. I like this website. It is concise and neat.
The first thing I noticed when going to this blog was that it seemed very colorful. The background was bright and there were a lot of pictures on it. Another unique feature I noticed about the blog was in the top left hand corner of the screen, you could change the language of the blog. This is interesting because the blog is trying to reach and appeal to a global audience whereas some of the other blogs have been appealing to specifically Americans and certain demographics. All of the articles on the page are in a nice orderly fashion and are easy to read and find. They have links directly to social media pages which makes it easy for readers to share what they read with the click of a button. The site is very easy to navigate and get around with links being at the top of the site and bottom as well. The site has various sponsors and there is also a link to which one can click on and advertise on the site. The “about” tab also talks about the history of the site and gives some background on why it formed and what the authors beliefs are.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is appealing and so is logo, as well as the colors which encourages the readers to pay more attention. This site shows the beauty of nature especially with the different pictures such as the NeNe goose, elephant, gardens and many more. This site talk about important issues such as global warming, environmental pollution, and sustainable management of resources. I found the article Questioning Wind Energy's "Green Matter" quite interesting because it explains how the cleanest energy source is suspected of harming the environment. Some of the reasons why the wind turbines is suspected of causing harm is because birds are more likely to be hit by the turbines. The turbines could change the weather patterns, and it could also cause negative psychological effects such as stress. I really like this site its informative and teaches the reader about ways of staying green.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the layout of the blog. They used the colors green and blue to represent the earth obviously. The blog is very easy to follow it has big bold titles which makes it easy to decide which article you want to read about. I really like the concept of the blog. I am all about helping the environment and going green so I like the fact that this site is teaching readers how to go green and save the environment.
ReplyDeleteThis blog has the common structure as most of the other blogs we have been looking, the clean background and carefully arranged posts. The symbol of the blog pretty much speaks for itself. Also the light blue background gives me the imagination of the clear sky. For the contents, I consider this blog more interesting than the previous blogs; the blog is not only about the current issues of environment protection, but also some facts and events that are attracting as well as knowledgeable. This fact make the entire blog more friendly to readers (the atmosphere of the blog is not as serious and sad as other websites about the similar topic).
ReplyDeleteI really like the design of this blog. The first thing that caught my eyes when I first looked at this blog is not its title, it is the picture of different cleaning products. When I saw the picture, I was curious about what the article is going to talked about because when I do not have a clear idea about that. So I think the use of pictures is one of my favorite things about the blog. For instance, each posted article is combined with a related picture to show the readers visually that what the article is going to talk about in general. Picture is a much more efficient way to attract the readers attention and make this blog attractive, because I think a blog with only words will be boring. What’s more, I think the title matches the topic of this blog perfectly. The word “environmental” with a cartoon tree on its left side seems to be the key pints of the title. The word ”environmental” has two colors: blue and green, while I think blue represents the ocean and sky and green stands for plants.
ReplyDeleteUnlike some of the blogs in the past I think that this one was very appealing to the eye. There were bright colors and a pretty cool logo that looked something like a flower which one may expect from a blog about the environment. I also liked the fact that each individual blog had an interesting picture as well as interesting text in order to draw the reader in and get them interested in the article. The blog has articles that range from the impact elephants have on the environment to a blog about the increase in people doing backyard chickening. The articles that I took the time to look at were very interesting and kept my interest from the point I saw the picture to the end of the article. Overall, i think that this was a great blog that definitely achieves its goal of informing people on environmental topics.
ReplyDeleteThis website is exactly what I expected coming from a environmental blog. When I first opened the website, the first thing I seen was a plant, or green leaf. On that same green leaf I noticed that there was black part that could symbolize pollution. Actually reading the articles, it match up with my observations based on the design of the website. There was a story a 103 year old tree that died, and there were stories like new battery technologies that can charge things for a nice time. On the top and sides are some advertisements, the like us on facebook and sponsers who were also along the side of the page. One color I forgot to mention was blue, mainly because water is so obvious to the planet that it didnt come to mind when analyzing the webpage. All in all, this website was on the border with creatvity, but in efforts to make the reader focus on more of the articles, they did a good job.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first looked at the blog, I noticed that the background was white with the title "The Environmental Blog" in the colours green, blue and black. I also noticed that in the title, there is a green plant/leaf and part of it is black. In my opinion, I think that the black symbolizes pollution. I like the use of the white background, because in my opinion, it allows the readers to focus on the main articles. It is also appealing to the eye. When scrolling down the page, next to the article's titles, is the date that it was posted. This shows that the creators of the blog keep it updated daily unlike many other blogs. In addition, next to the title and the date of the blogs, the creators also put up interesting pictures, and the pictures as well as the text beside it, make the viewer want to read the article. Lastly, I like the fact that this blog contains environmental topics such as protection and also some interesting general knowledge facts.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I noticed about this blog was its crisp clean look that appeals to all people that its professional and won’t have anything offensive or inappropriate for younger viewers. This crisp and clean looks also adds to their stance of a clean environment. The second thing I thought was that at first it looked very much like a corporate or government website so I didn’t think it would yield much very much in the way the other blogs did or that it would be very easy to navigate. But after looking through the site I found it to be very user friendly and inviting. I liked how inviting it was because it didn’t come off as pushing away people who weren’t extreme activist but gave advice and tips on how the everyday person could help along with positive news on going green.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing i noticed when getting to the page was the color scheme- great choices, and works well with the layout. I love the pictures with each story, helps pull the reader into what each one is about and the fact that each one has a date means that the blogger cares about the page and updates it regularly, if not daily. The layout is similar to Facebook, which means that almost everyone these days will have an easy time navigating it. The tabs at the top also help the site by having more than just one page to look at like the last blog.
